CEOs Job Hop, You Should Too
Why can’t I leave a company because I want to “take on a new challenge”
Alright, maybe you believe in the company vision or whatever. Work-life is excellent, and you’re happy or whatever that means to you. You hate your wife and family. You spend four hours every Sunday mowing the lawn because you hate them so much, and it’s better than spending time with them.
That’s great, but why are you doing all that and not moving jobs? Do you think the big boss man will also be around for the next twenty years?
Surprisingly enough, most CEOs don’t stick around for the long haul. The term exit strategy doesn’t materialize out of thin air.
On average, CEOs last roughly five years at a company.
I’ve always found it interesting that people who praise loyalty are the least loyal. If the company isn’t showing success or the CEO gets bored, they leave. Whether they’re directly contributing to boredom or failure, a CEO can jump ship without much recourse.
What are you going to do?
Follow suit and act the same way. The company sucks, leave. It looks like the place can’t turn a profit, so leave. Every top executive is performing an exit strategy, leave. Need a raise, leave.
